-My 1980 Goldwing has 65,000 miles and still runs really strong. I bought it used in 1994 with only 21,000 miles. I have added some of my custom wood add-ons. Other than normal maintenance I have not had any problems. New rear wheel bearings, battery, tires and a new Sony. Its funny that the wing that you pictured has rear speakers in the exact same place I put mine. I did put on a new windshield. -76 GL1000, 39k miles, Black with Vetter Fairing, Bags and Trunk. I can't take credit for any of the work of installing the accessories. Someone really loved her in her younger days! The love must've worn out over time, 'cause when I got her in 1994 the paint was faded, dirt encrusted, surface rust everywhere and general neglect. Seat, unknown mfg., recovered in brown leather locally. Work done by me (mechanical) Carbs rebuilt, all cables replaced, electronic ignition and coils. Currently I'm rebuilding the rear brake system (it was sticking from dirt/crud). I think the front system will live until this winter. Many small parts have been replaced along the way. Needless to say, I'm on a first-name basis with all the folks at the local Honda Dealer. The prices aren't the greatest but at least you can still get the parts! Other bikes I've owned I haven't been that lucky with. No name for the bike yet, but we hail from Wooster, Ohio and I should be a member of the Classic Wings club within a week or two. The discussion group is a source of good info. and leads.- |
